School Improvement
School Culture
Positive school culture and community are necessary for teachers in order to have a safe place to grow their skills. However, this can be difficult to build with singleton teachers or roles. In this artifact, I co-facilitated a team building and problem solving meeting for science lead teachers across my school division to support building a positive community and culture during virtual learning.
In this artifact, I evaluate the master schedule of a school and explore how its structure positively impacts school culture.
Sustaining and Evaluating School Improvement
The School Innovation and Improvement Plan (SIIP) outlines the strategic goals of a school, and is the main driver of school improvement. As a member of the SIIP committee, I have collaborated across my school to drive instructional improvement. This section of our SIIP shows the year-long process of evaluating and monitoring progress towards our team's goal while supporting our newest team members.
In order to make meaningful progress towards school goals, all staff must be knowledgeable about and invested in those goals. In this artifact, I co-created a professional development for teachers on the ESSER III federal grant and plan, how it is connected to the SIIP, and what their roles are in executing the plan.
Community Engagement
School is a major part of any community, and it is therefore vital that schools and communities have a strong partnership. This strong partnership can support student achievement and school improvement. I will foster this relationship by:
creating and maintaining a positive school culture that thrives on community
encouraging families, teachers, and students to work as a team through the PTA and other avenues
collecting data from and engaging in shared decision making with families around school events, changes in school policy, etc.
developing partnerships with community groups
engaging in clear, consistent, and accessible communication through newsletters, social media, translation platforms, and other forms of communication
