Instructional Leadership
Effective Instructional Programs
Ensuring effective instruction for every student is at the heart of our work as educational leaders. In this artifact, I evaluate an instructional program that my district was considering purchasing based on its alignment with the district's mission, vision, and strategic plan and positive effect on student achievement.
Using Student Data
Student data should drive all that we do as leaders. Here is a structure I use with Collaborative Learning Teams (CLTs) when analyzing student data. We use this structure to prompt meaningful action from our data dialogues.
As a leader I also work with adults. Collecting, analyzing and taking action on data from adults should also drive my work. In this artifact, I worked with my central office science team to analyze feedback from teachers around virtual lessons and resources we created, and determine necessary changes.
Supervising Instruction
Supporting teachers through supervision ensures that every student is receiving quality instruction, and that the school can make meaningful progress towards its goals. In this artifact, I outline how to best support a 3rd year middle school science teacher who is struggling with behavior management and lesson planning.
Instructional Technology
In our increasingly digital landscape, the effective use of technology in the classroom can have a significant impact on student learning. Through my work as a leader and educator, I have used many educational technology tools for this purpose. In this artifact, I supported a novice teacher with incorporating more digital books into their instruction.
